Apache Announces the Adoption of its Power Closure Sign-off Solutions by STMicroelectronics

Mountain View, Calif. – March 6, 2006 – Apache Design Solutions, the technology leader in physical power integrity solutions for system-on-chip (SoC) designs, today announced that STMicroelectronics, one of the world’s largest semiconductor manufacturers, has expanded its corporate-wide adoption of Apache’s dynamic power closure sign-off solution, including RedHawk-EV with automated noise fixing and optimization, and low-power ramp-up analysis. Additionally, ST will augment their existing static IR-drop analysis tools with Apache’s RedHawk-S - a high performance static IR-drop and EM analysis solution. ST will use Apache’s products for dynamic power sign-off in their 65nm production flow and selected 90nm designs. One of the key reasons ST selected RedHawk for its power sign-off flow is for its ability to thoroughly analyze the critical ramp-up operation of their low power MTCMOS designs.

“We’ve been using RedHawk for more than a year on key applications including multimedia application processor, set-top box, 3G/GPRS broadband, and high speed networking, and we have been very pleased with its robustness and the ability to accurately identify power-related design weaknesses including impact on timing,” said Philippe Magarshack, vice president of the Central CAD And Design Solutions organization at ST.

“Apache is excited that another leading semiconductor company such as ST has placed its trust in our technology, products, and vision,” said Andrew Yang, CEO of Apache. “Apache is committed to provide the best solution and support to our customers in SoC power closure.”

Apache will be demonstrating RedHawk and its low power analysis capabilities at the Design, Automation, and Test in Europe (DATE) in Munich Germany, March 7-9, in stand #B6. ST’s Nomadik™ project team will be presenting their experience with Apache’s solutions at the DATE’s Exhibition Theatre on Tuesday, March 7 at 11:40 am.
